As we have been making our way West throughout this adventure, we decided to spend one more night in Arizona, before crossing into California.
We found a free campsite on the Colorado River that is owned by the BLM, and dispersed camping is allowed.
The GPS coordinates for the exact spot that we stayed are 33.534216,-114.553198. Click here to open in Google Maps.
There are, however, multiple spots to camp along this road and further down.
It was very simple to get to. We exited I-10 via exit number 1 towards Ehrenberg, and left the traffic circle towards the Flying J truckstop. Just after the truck stop, Ox Bow rd is on the left. Turn left there, and go approximately 6 miles to the destination!
We liked this free campsite because it was near the river, and there were no other campers near by. We were able to enjoy a nice sunset then fire up our generator for a little while without disturbing anyone.
An added bonus for this spot is there is a designated shooting area about a mile down Ox Bow road. There are also off road trails throughout the area.
We found the perfect little area to set up camp here. The one night that we spent here was very peaceful. It was an easy area to find and we will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
